Ministries Offered at Heritage Baptist Church
Soul Winning Visitation
Proverbs 11:30 "The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise." Jesus commanded the church to take the gospel to a lost and dying world, so they could hear, believe, and call on the Lord to save them. Heritage Baptist Church believes in soul winning. Every ministry is a soul winning ministry. Everyone should tell everybody about Jesus, everywhere they go, everyday of their life. We also have several opportunities throughout the week for you to meet with others from the church and go soul winning. Those times are Tuesday at 5:30pm, Thursday at 6:30pm, and Saturday at 10:00am. The soul winning visitation consist of door-to-door, bus visitation, first time visitors, prospects, seniors/shut-ins, nursing homes, hospitals, and jail ministry.
Bus Ministry
Mark 10:14b "...Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God." Our bus ministry has several routes that go in to Locust Grove and other neighboring cities to visit and give children an opportunity to come to church every Sunday. Our pastor especially has a heart for the bus ministry, because he rode a church bus as a teenager, came to church, and got saved.
Sunday School
Matthew 28:20 "Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen." The Lord wants everyone to learn His Word and to the love His Word, so they can live His Word on a daily basis. At Heritage you will find Sunday school classes for everyone, beginning at the nursery going up to our Heritage class for seniors. There are children, teens, college aged, couples, ladies, mens, and senior classes available every Sunday morning at 10:00am.
Nursery
During each of our services we staff a nursery for parents with small children, ages 0-3 years old.
Children's Church
During our Sunday morning service, we offer two different children's church service. 4-7 year olds have their own service, and 8-12 year olds have their own service called "Mega Church". These services are centered on preaching and teaching God's word to the children, while also allowing them to sing songs, play games, and sometimes do crafts based on what was taught that day. Sunday evening we offer a children's church service for the 4-6 year olds, while children 7 years and older go in to our main church service.
Missions
Matthew 28:18-20 "And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world.Amen."
Mark 16:15 "And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature."
Acts 1:8 "But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judæa, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth."
We believe it is the responsibility of the local church to try and fulfill these verse by getting the gospel into every nation and to every person. We currently support 52 missionaries, domestically and internationally, who God has called to a specific area to reach those people with the gospel of Jesus Christ. We are honored to be the sending church for Bro. Nate Johnson & his family as they endeavor to spread the gospel in Denmark. Every member is encouraged to pray about what God would have them to give to support missions.
Choirs
1 Chronicles 15:16 "And David spake to the chief of the Levites to appoint their brethren to be the singers with instruments of musick, psalteries and harps and cymbals, sounding, by lifting up the voice with joy."
Ephesians 5:19 "speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;"
Colossians 3:16 "Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord."
Each service one of our choirs will bring specials that they have prepared for that service. Our adult choir meets at 4:45pm on Sundays, and they sing in our 11am & 6pm services on Sundays. Our Ensemble (13 years old thru married), meets at 5:15pm in the library, and they sing in our 6pm service on Sundays. Our Sounds of Joy choir (4-12 years old) meets at 6:30pm on Wednesday, and they sing in our 7pm service on Wednesdays.
Heritage Baptist Bible College
2 Timothy 2:2 "And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also." Heritage Baptist Bible College is on of the avenues that we use to teach the word of God to believers. Our instructors are two of our assistant pastors, Dr. Kris Dawkins and Bro. Clark Herring. Dr. Kris Dawkins oversees our bible college ministry.
Our bible college meets on Monday & Tuesday nights from 6:00-8:30pm.
Dr. Kris Dawkins received his Bachelors and Masters from Grace Baptist Bible Institute, under Dr. Lee Davis. He received his Doctorate of Theology from Advance Bible College. He has been an assistant pastor at Heritage since 2014. Dr. Dawkins teaches our Heritage Sunday school class, and he and his wife (Sis. Amanda) oversee our Master Clubs ministries on Thursday nights.
Bro. Clark Herring received his bachelors and masters while attending Victory Baptist Church (North Augusta, SC), under Pastor R. Larry Brown. He pastored for six and a half years in Eatonton, GA. Before pastoring, her served as the youth pastor at Heritage for 4 years, and now serves as one of our Assitant Pastors. Bro. Herring teaches our Mighty Men Sunday school class. His wife (Sis. Jessica) serves as one of our secretaries for our church and christian school.
